Abstract

This article analyzes the lexical-semantic properties of social relation verbs and the processes of their activation in the modern language system. In the course of the research, the semantic structure, functional capabilities and scope of application of these verbs in speech are studied. Social relation verbs are considered as important lexical units expressing interpersonal, intergroup and societal relationships. Also, the expansion of meaning, the formation of new semantic shades and discursive activity of these verbs under the influence of social, cultural and communicative factors are highlighted. The results of the research are of significant theoretical and practical importance for linguistic semantics, cognitive linguistics and discourse analysis.
