METACOGNITIVE APPROACH TO DEVELOPING STUDENTS' CRITICAL THINKING

This article analyzes the importance and effectiveness of the metacognitive approach in developing students' critical thinking in the higher education system. In the modern educational paradigm, students' independent thinking, problem-solving, and critical evaluation of information skills are of particular importance. The article examines in detail the concept of metacognition, its components, its relationship with critical thinking, and its application in the educational process. Metacognitive strategies allow students to control their own thinking processes, evaluate their knowledge, and choose learning strategies appropriately. The study provides practical recommendations for the implementation of the metacognitive approach in pedagogical practice and ways to increase students' academic achievement through this approach.
